Business advertising between companies differs tremendously between business advertising between a company and individuals. Like in any writing or communication, the intended recipient of the advertisement determines everything about the style of the message. Voice, word choice, imaging, included details, presentation? the tools that are used may be similar, the point of the message may be similar, but the voice and the tenor needs to change in radical ways.
First of all in b2b advertising you are advertising a product that the business wants to buy, that they need. Consumer advertising involves persuading them that they should try it , that they want it, that they need it. B2b on the other hand deals with a target who is well aware, they?re just looking for the best option to meet their needs. In fact, most of the time you are dealing with a purchasing agent, someone whose entire job it is to decide what to buy, what product or service they are best off in investing in.
Secondly business buyers are sophisticated, intelligent. They know what they need and you need to present yourself as the best. No gimmicks, no games. Even the way you capture human interest needs to be different. Logic and authority need to trump novelty or emotion.
The buyer will need a lot of copy. Whereas consumers need three bullet points top and a paragraph if they want to research, a business will want your entire manual and warranty before they even think of buying. Be prepared, have your product or service set up deep accordingly.
